In honor of International Women's Day I want to debut my new line of shirts "Freedom Fighters". This shirt represents the freedom which the women of YPJ have been fighting for years. The YPJ is an acronym whose translation means “Women’s Protection Units.” It is the all-female brigade of the YPG, the armed forces of the Syrian region of Kurdistan, known as Rojava (meaning Western) Kurdistan.

These women have been fighting notoriously along side male soldiers to put an end to persecution. We must take a stand and show support for these women who not only sacrifice their lives but their dignity when fighting against such barbarism.

For me, creating these shirts and having them being worn is one step towards raising awareness to the women of YPJ. Let's unite and work together in having these women being recognized and supported for all the barriers which they have  broken.  We are all freedom fighters in our own right.
